No Limits - Youth Development Model

The Volunteering Action Plan aims to attract more volunteers to the youth work sector and to improve support and development opportunities for youth work volunteers.

The Youth Development model looks at supporting young people to develop and progress as volunteers.

Interviews with youth work organisations, local authorities, educational bodies, and businesses have highlighted existing models of youth volunteering, methods of supporting and promoting youth volunteering that are currently being used, and information about how young people's volunteering is being recognised and accredited.

'No Limits - Volunteering as a Model of Youth Development' has been produced primarily for youth work providers who want to support young people as volunteers, this guide will be available from 12th June 2008.

'No Limits' will:

  • set the context in which youth volunteering is currently taking place in Scotland
  • provide some guiding principles, based on existing good practice, on how to develop young people as volunteers
  • and highlight the value of volunteering as an approach to youth development.
