Youth Scotland offers training for each level of the Youth Achievement Awards - from Introductory up to Gold & Platinum

Awards Introductory Training

Youth Scotland offer a series of Awards Introductory Training Events which are open to anyone interested in supporting young people to gain an Award or simply looking to find out more about the Awards.

The training provides workers with an understanding of the rationale behind the Awards and how they complement their existing youth work practice. They will gain a working knowledge of the Youth Achievement Awards and Dynamic Youth Awards, enabling them to effectively promote, support and deliver these Awards within their youth clubs or groups.

Please note that this training is a requirement for anyone wishing to deliver Youth Achievement Awards with young people and recommended for anyone wishing to deliver Dynamic Youth Awards with young people.

There are 12/20 training places at each of these Events and these allocated on a first come basis. The cost is £70 per training place. This cost includes all training materials, refreshments and lunch.

Youth Achievement Award Advanced Training

Bronze and Silver Training

This training is aimed at staff that have completed Awards Introductory Training and have direct experience of supporting young people with their Youth Achievement Awards. It is also recommended for staff that fulfil the previous criteria but who also line manage or support YAA Award Group Workers and/or quality assure Youth Achievement Awards. The training covers, in more detail, the requirements at the Bronze and Silver level including evidencing and internal verification. 

Gold and Platinum Training

This training is for experienced YAA Award Group Workers and covers the requirements for the highest levels of the YAA, Gold and Platinum. Staff must meet the criteria for YAA Award Group Worker Status and have significant experience of Award delivery at the Bronze and Silver levels.

Please note - you should have completed Awards Introductory Training before attending this training.

Awards Portfolio Building Training

This training will take participants through the portfolio building process for each level of awards, highlighting what is expected at each level of responsibility to meet the internal verification criteria. These are interactive sessions which participants can use a range of appropriate evidence for each level of the Awards.

Operating Agency Training Event

Operating Agencies are entitled to an annual Youth Achievement Awards Introductory Training Event delivered by Youth Scotland as part of their registration agreement and many deliver their own in-house training. If you would prefer to access this training through your Operating Agency please contact them directly for details.
