What are Young Placechangers?
The Young Placechangers programme is a two-year partnership programme between greenspace Scotland and Youth Scotland. It funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Scottish Government.
The programme will engage and empower young people to take the lead on changing the places where they live. The programme has three core elements:
- Young people and youth workers will be given training both in residential settings and in local clusters
- The Ideas Fund will support, and fund activity & deliver quick-wins
- Support from peers and ‘place professionals’ will inspire and enthuse
Through peer facilitation and training the programme will give young people, and the youth workers and other adults that support them, the skills and confidence to engage with others in their communities to act to improve the environmental quality, biodiversity, playability and vibrancy of neighbourhoods – and, in the process, change attitudes and mindsets.
Interested ? Then come to our residential weekend on 17th & 18th November 2018 in Callander.
All you need is a good idea for a placechanging project and 2-3 friends and a youth worker or adult who supports you to come with you. You can take part in a fantastic weekend of activities to help develop your idea and take them back to your group!
You will have the opportunity to apply for £500 to take action straight away and later you can even apply for up £3,000 for a bigger project.
We have space for up to 6 groups consisting of a youth worker/support adult and 2-3 young people in each group. Once you have been on the weekend you must include the rest of your youth group in the project you want to take forward.
Please note that you have to be between 12 and 25 years old to take part.
